about
Enochian (ENOX) had just finished recording their first full length album in Fall 2018. Originally to be released as an EP with the first five that were tracked back in April with producer Ricky Armellino (Ice Nine Kills, HAWK). As we were getting ready for a one week run going to Canada for the first time with great friends, The Northern, I had an idea that kept running my mind and needed to tab out quickly before going out on the road. Metropolis was the idea that I had written then, and I went back and forth between two tunings that stuck out between Drop G# and Drop F# on Roy's(bassist, ENOX) trustee Jackson 7 string. The song itself emulated more in the style of Invent, Animate because that band is pretty cool and the technicality in their writing is was that unfair that not even I could pull off efficiently. Mike, the vocalist, and I had gone back and forth on revising the song. The structure was the to the tee, but the nuances added in the song either needed more flavor or had to be condensed. In the end, the song was complete in 2020. Mike had written lyrics for Metropolis when it was tuned to Drop F#. However, the song did not see the light under the name of ENOX, and so I took the liberty to revert the song back to its original tuning, G#, and release it as an instrumental. The lyrics won't change, but the tuning will eventually.
